Baby albino gorilla12/15/2023 ![]() He had three mates in the zoo with whom he had babies, he has several surviving children and grand children, none of them albino. ![]() You can see him here shortly after his arrival at the zoo. I assume that his original family accepted him, because he was in good health when captured, and he was already about 3-4 years old when captured. He was captured as a baby in Equatorial Guinea, where a local poacher killed his entire family and then sold him to an anthropologist from Barcelona, who placed the baby in the zoo (Snowflake gorilla). If one is born as a surprise, then same as the above, make sure you store it in your trade center till you are ready to start your breeding program and don't waste the opportunity. The only albino gorilla I have ever heard of was Snowflake (Floquet de neu in Catalan, or Copito de Nieve in Spanish), who lived in the Barcelona zoo for almost 40 years. It really doesn't take long when you know you have a carrier animal or white animal in your zoo to start with. It's even better if you can find another white animal in the trade center to diversify the genetics even further. Many of these animals will be lower quality but as long as you are comparing the genetics, within a couple of generations you will have a couple of compeltely separate lines so far removed from each other they can be bread back together without any drawbacks. You should now have the beginnings of at least two separate bloodlines. Do the above a few more times making sure to check the compatibility until you have a healthy supply of white animals. Breed the carrier animals from different exhibits together. Any white animals born out of either pairing breed to high-quality normal animals to create more heterozygous/carrier animals. Leave the second daughter with her father to breed, these children have an even higher chance of being born white. Breed them together and they are very likely to produce at least one white baby pretty quickly. Move one of the daughters to her own exhibit with her brother (check compatibility for the best match though none will be wonderful here). White Male fathers two daughters and two sons from 4 different high-quality females (the 4 different females are important here since you introduce new genetics if you buy those 4 females from 4 different zoos). What I mean by that is add diverse matching genetics to your populations but also inbreed. Once you have your hands on any white animal start creating two lines. ![]() But also take what you can get and don't be picky. Also, make sure and be smart about the gender you choose, many male animals can breed several females so if you are breeding zebra, one white male zebra is going to produce a lot more carrier babies than one white female zebra. Breed two heterozygous/carrier animals together and the odds are pretty high you will get a white animal. The animals DO carry genetics even if they don't show it, so mark your babies from white animals even if they look normal they will be your breeding stock. If you can buy a better animal, do it, but you don't have to. You can still breed animals with low fertility and that is often the cheapest way to break into breeding white animals, so don't pay attention to the genetics if you don't have the points to pay attention to the genetics. The fastest way is just to buy a white animal, don't worry about fertility, I even got a baby out of 0 fertility panda. I have a zoo ("Falcor" if you see it in the marketplace) and nearly every animal in that zoo is at least a carrier of (or the child of) a recessive gene animal (primarily the Leucistic/white gene). ![]()
